Top 5 Summer Bag Edit

Summer is finally here and there's nothing that screams summer more than a statement 'beach' bag. I  use inverted commas here because the so-called beach bag has come a long way in the past couple of years so I don't think you need to restrict their use to beaches or holidays...theres plenty of ways to style a beach bag in the city or for work to inject that little hint of holiday into everyday life. I'll take you through a few that i've purchased this season and rate them based on versatility, practicality, durability, style and price. Enjoy!

1. Mango Jute Bucket Bag: £35.99 (here)

I love this one. Absolutely huge and really comfortable to wear on the shoulder. Very of the moment with its circular shape and natural colour. The only fiddly thing is the opening being slightly restricted due to the shape so I prefer to use this for days out at home rather than as a beach/holiday bag as I don’t fancy the annoyance of trying to stuff a towel and other bulky items into the smaller opening but once inside it’s positively cavernous!

2. Primark 'Out of Office' Tote: £8 (not available online)

This one is a bit of fun and probably not one for work 😉 I love the caption and it’s actually a really comfortable bag to wear. It won’t last more than a season (the letters are pretty flimsily stuck on and the strap is not attached brilliantly) but for £8 I think that’s ok and I’ve already had a nice amount of use out of it. Good for your beach towel and essentials but wouldn’t recommend carrying heavy items in this one.

3. Zara Jute Mini Bucket Bag: £29.99 (here)

This natural jute bucket bag was perfect for a recent city break to Geneva. It has the long shoulder strap so can be worn crossbody during the day but for an evening appropriate look just hold by the elegant wooden top handles et voila! The only downside is likely to be durability; I can already see the jute beginning to unravel in places so beware that it might not survive more than a season or two.

4. Zara Structured Straw Bag with Rounded Handles £29.99 (here)

As soon as I laid eyes on this bag I knew it had to come home with me. I'm much more of a structured bag kind of girl so this was right up my street and I knew it would go with everything I owned! I took this on my honeymoon recently and used it as an everyday bag which worked well but the only downside to the structured nature of this bag is you can't fit large amounts inside but it's totally fine because I just made my husband carry the towels so I could carry on rocking my gorgeous bag with ease (style over practicality everyday right?)

5. Loewe Basket bag in Natural/Tan: £295 (here)

As a designer bag lover I had to include a premium piece and this is one on the current wish-list (if i'm honest, i'm currently on the waitlist because it's been sold out for. like. EVER)! It's definitely a splurge at £295 but the leather details give this a more formal finish so I can see myself using this as summer work bag as well as a très chic holiday bag that will instantly elevate all my bargain high street dresses. Also it's by Loewe, the brand of the moment and trust me, you'd be hard pushed to pick up a keyring for less than this normally so if you are a fan of designer pieces then this is well worth the splurge if you can get your hands on it that is!
