New-in High Street - My Spring Midi Dress Edit

There's nothing I love more than a good midi dress in spring. I must admit, i'm not a big fan of colour in my wardrobe generally, but I definitely have a weakness for bolder prints or ditsy florals when it comes to springtime/summer fashion. I would usually style these with a pair of white sneakers like my old classic & Other Stories pair similar here or, a pair of epic sandals like these new Topshop beauts here that I picked up last week!

Details and links (clockwise from top left):

Zara- Striped Dress with Bow.  I've taken the plunge and bought this one recently. I think it's a really versatile piece that I can see myself wearing for work when it warms up a little more but I'm also planning on taking it with me on a little city break to Geneva that I'm going on next month so look out on my instagram for some action shots in this one! It's also 55% linen and under £40 - a bit of a steal really wouldn't you agree?

& Other Stories Floral Print Midi - I love the shape of this dress and would wear it casually by styling with trainers and, maybe a oversized denim jacket. ooo yes- I can see it now :) Not the cheapest of dresses but i'm rarely let down by Stories; boy do they know how to tailor a garment! Just the right balance of classic and contemporary, which in my opinion, gives it that edge over lower-priced brands - you are paying for that attention to detail when it comes to design and I think that justifies the higher price point.

Topshop Diagonal Stripe Midi - This one I just love. Its by no means understated or my usual style but it definitely makes me smile. I would probably want a bit of colour in my skin before wearing this because against a pale complexion, it could look a touch too harsh. However, the contemporary print and asymmetry to the hemline combined with the retro vibe to the shape make it an all round winner for spring/summer 2018.

New Look Coral Button Front Midi - This button-down style was EVERYWHERE last season and I have a feeling it will return this year too. Urban Outfitters did a bunch of these in 2017 but they were around the £50 mark so this New Look gem in a gorgeous muted coral/pink is an absolute bargain at £20. The perfect comfortable day dress for holidays so if you're jetting off anywhere soon, I think its well worth adding this to your shopping list.

Zara Patchwork Print Dress - I had to exercise some serious constraint not to buy this when I tried it on recently but having splurged on a few other pieces that day, I couldn't quite justify the £70 price tag. But that was then and this is now - 3 whole days later and the little shopping fairy on my shoulder has successfully convinced me that I do in fact need it after all, who knew?! The shape and flow of the dress flatter the figure with just the right amount of waist cinching without being too restrictive. I'll be sure to share some pics over on my Instagram when the inevitable order takes place. Come on, we all know I'm literally ordering it right now...
