My favourite products from: Kat Von D Beauty

This is the first post in a new series that I'm planning which focuses on my favourite products from a particular brand that I love. Each month I will give you the low down on products that I genuinely use and would/do repurchase regularly. This month, the brand is Kat Von D Beauty.
I discovered Kat Von D in the Spring of 2016, before it's UK launch via Debenhams, the only way to get hold of it was to order from Sephora or head over to the States - so I did the latter! Okay, I love make-up but I didn't head to LA specifically to buy some of these products but it was a very welcome bonus of being over there!
It could be argued that a brand with a strong image like Kat Von D is taking a risk. Perhaps similar to brands like Illamasqua or Urban Decay, there is a tendency to think there might not be anything suitable for us more understated makeup lovers! This would indeed be a risky strategy if that were true but Kat Von D has built a beautifully curated line of high quality products at an excellent price point that are suitable for a range of styles, tastes and personalities. That's literally the beauty of this line, there is something for everyone.

I’ve been through many phases with my makeup but these days I've toned things down to favour quality over quantity and there's nothing I love more than a good nude lipstick and simple winged liner look! Speaking of which, (seamless link alert) my top two products from the line are the infamous Tattoo Liner in Trooper and the 'Everlasting' liquid lipstick in Lolita (...and 'Lolita II'... and 'Bow N Arrow' - sorry, I couldn't possibly choose between them!). The Tattoo liner is an absolute winner- I wore it on my wedding day, a testament to how much I love and trust it to look great and stay put during the spin cycle of emotions a wedding involves! Its very pigmented and the superfine, flexible brush nib allows you to achieve a precise application. The clue is in the name for the 'everlasting' liquid lipsticks because these babies DO.NOT.BUDGE. They glide on like velvet and then dry down to give a matte finish which isn't too drying (probably due to them containing lots of natural moisturisers including vitamin E and sunflower seed waxand I find them comfortable to wear all day.

The 'Lock -It' creme concealer is next on the list- I wanted a long-lasting concealer that didn't feel too chalky on the skin and this ticks both boxes. Its undoubtedly heavy coverage but virtually weightless when blended. There are 21 shades to choose from and to be honest, finding your shade isn't particularly easy using the numbers and letter system they use so I would recommend testing in store as opposed to buying online. I have two shades; M17 warm for the face and L15 Neutral for under the eyes although I don't take it too far under the eyes, as it can fall into fine lines (damn you early thirties skin)!

Last but not least, a brush! The brush range is impressive with every size and shape you could possibly need for flawless make-up application. My brush of choice is number 20, the 'Lock-It Setting Powder Brush' and this beauty is so lovely to use with its rounded head and super-soft synthetic bristles, it picks up even the finest of  powders and distributes it beautifully around the face so believe me, whilst I may only have one for now, the list is long for future purchases so watch this space...
